A Personal Care Plan & Comprehensive Dentistry

A personal care plan takes into account your oral health priorities, general health, past illnesses and financial parameters. Developing a personal care plan with Dr. Caputo and his staff, while not required, is an opportunity to plan for preventative care, necessary care and cosmetic dental care

Well over 90% of Dr. Caputo’s existing patients have chosen to develop individual, personal care plans.

Dr. Caputo’s commitment to personalized, individual, oral health care planning is an integral part of his practice and an outgrowth of his practice of Comprehensive Dentistry. With advanced training in oral surgery, periodontal care, endodontic care, as well as general dentistry, Dr. Caputo is among the minority of dentists willing to practice this form of dentistry. Dr. Caputo also has extensive expertise and experience in cosmetic dentistry as well as reconstructive dentistry.

Treatments

While familiar to many, a few words on the most popular treatments is often helpful. A sample of Dr. Caputo’s fees for these treatments is presented separately.

Cleanings The value of a cleaning goes far beyond any cosmetic considerations. While your cleaning is being done Dr. Caputo and his professional staff are looking for early signs of bone loss, decay or gum (periodontal) disease.

In many ways, a cleaning appointment can be the most valuable time a patient spends with their dentist.

Whitening Although a cosmetic procedure, it is important to know the best results from whitening, whether done professionally or by a home treatment, are achieved within one to two weeks of a professional cleaning.

Fluoride Treatments While it is widely known fluoride treatments are particularly helpful for children with developing teeth, fluoride treatments can also be of great value to older patients. Teeth worn down over time from “normal wear and tear” may be hyper sensitive to hot and cold, and/or more susceptible to periodontal (gum) disease.

In these instances fluoride treatments can be both a preventative and therapeutic measure. The most common fluoride treatment is a take home rinse which is used daily.

Pit & Fissure Sealants
Unfamiliar to many, pit and fissure sealants, are a treatment to prevent tooth decay in children. Pit and fissure sealants are a protective coating placed over the chewing area of the back teeth, and generally not applicable or useful for adults.

It is important to know that while pit and fissure sealants are often covered by insurance, it is also true an age limit for coverage often applies, usually 14 years of age.
