My brother, Richard had a second christening of his new Custom Made Makai Shaved Ice Trailer, today, Cinco di Mayo 2012.
My brother moved to Tarpon Springs with our mom and dad in 1985 from Atlantic Beach, NY 11509 in 1985. I moved to Palm Harbor FL in 1988. I opened my first dental office in Palm Harbor 34683 on 1988. I moved my dental practice to its current location on Jan 2, 2000 in Palm Harbor FL 34685.
I lived in Palm Harbor Fl, 34684 from 1988 – 1992, then I also moved to Tarpon Springs, Florida. Life in Tarpon Springs was good, I lived close to my parents, brother and my first Palm Harbor dentist office located in Palm Harbor on the corner of A19 and Alderman Road. In 1995 I bought a piece of land in East Lake Woodlands, our Oldsmar home was completed in July 1998, once again moving out of Palm Harbor. In 1999, I purchased the building my current Palm Harbor dentist office is in, in Palm Harbor 34685.
Another change in life and I move back into Palm Harbor, 34685 in 2004 and out of Palm Harbor back into Oldsmar in Sept 2005, where I live now. My Oldsmar home is just 10 minutes to my Palm Harbor dentist office.
Palm Harbor is a very nice region of Pinellas county to live in. Palm Harbor encompasses three (3) zip codes, 34683, 34684 and 34685. Palm Harbor’s roots run deep with major development occurring in the late 1980′s into approx 2005. Palm Harbor has plenty to offer almost any age group.
 After Bonding
Although only one tooth was fixed in my Palm Harbor dentist office, the change in the smile is very apparent.
Practicing dentistry in the Tampa FL area for 24+ years has given me a relatively long term perspective on economic cycles. I believe this will be a long correction, but life goes on. I hopefully will be a dentist in Palm Harbor FL for many years. Dentistry is a business, it is health care, but fortunately dentistry is not socialized like medicine is. Dentistry / Tampa dentists need to adapt to a changing economic environment.
Fee’s for services such as dental sedation, crowns & root canals should be based on cost plus a reasonable profit. Fee’s for dental cleanings are too low in my opinion.
 Before Bonding
Unlimited discretionary funds are a rarity these day, Tampa dentist patients still do not want to have broken or painful teeth. Tooth extraction has been the option of choice for many people in my Palm Harbor dentist office. Few people are willing to smile with a missing/broken front tooth if there are other affordable options.
Tooth #9 in this picture has been bonded/filled multiple times in the past and is now chipped again. Ideal dental treatment is to crown multiple front teeth, giving a beautiful smile. Due to financial limitations, ideal dentistry is not possible for this Tampa dentist patient.
For a very modest cost (relative to 4 crowns), chair-side bonding can be done. Tooth # 9 is seen before bonding in my Palm Harbor Dentist office in this picture.
This is another picture of fractured tooth #5 that was extracted in my Palm Harbor, Tampa FL area dentist office on April 27, 2012. the arrows point to the very obvious vertical root fracture. The patient had pain when biting down and swelling when not taking antibiotics.
Being a dentist in Palm Harbor Florida for 24+ years, I have looked in many mouths, I have done many root canals, seen many emergency patients in pain, and I have extracted many teeth. Some of the teeth extracted are for periodontal reasons, some decay, some due to breakage and some are failed root canals. One reason for a root canal to fail is the tooth can fracture. The tooth seen in this picture was extracted in my Palm Harbor dentist office on April 27, 2012. This was a support tooth for a fixed dental bridge. The root fractured almost in half. A pink line is seen in one of the root canals and a parapost is seen in the other root.
Maryland Bridge Maryland Bridge #25 bonded in
One might wonder why a dental prosthesis like this is called a “maryland bridge?” The technically correct term is an “etched bonded fixed bridge” but since it was developed at the University of Maryland, it has become known as a “maryland bridge.”
To begin with, any dental bridge replaces missing tooth/teeth. Dental bridges are either fixed (NOT permanent) or removable. Fixed bridges can be of traditional design (crowns on teeth adjacent to the missing tooth/teeth) or etched bonded bridges (the Maryland Bridge.) A Maryland Bridge does not require the adjacent teeth to be miniaturized (ground down to little nubs.) Most Maryland Bridges have a much shorter life expectancy than traditional fixed bridges, but they require far less irreversible alteration of the adjacent teeth.
In my Palm Harbor, Tampa area dentist office I have made many Maryland Bridges over the past 25 years but they are still just a tiny percentage of the overall tooth replacement process.
Flipper tooth # 25 Flipper tooth #25
I am a 52 year old dentist in practice in Palm Harbor, the Tampa area of Florida.
When someone says “Flipper” to me, I think of the dolphin on TV that I remember as a child… Flipper was so smart. His human friends included a father (a fish and game warden) and two of his sons. They lived somewhere in Florida ( I do not think it was Tampa or Palm Harbor.)
Fast forward more than two decades, Columbia Dental School (1981 -1985) and now all of a sudden a flipper is no longer a very smart mammal that lives in the water, a dental flipper is a temporary all acrylic replacement tooth. Total paradigm shift. Flipper the animal actor swims, dental flippers temporarily replace missing teeth.
In this picture a flipper to replace missing tooth #25 is seen. This was made in my Palm Harbor FL dentist office. In most instances, the ideal definitive replacement is a dental implant with a crown on it. Mini dental implants are most commonly used in this location.
In my Palm Harbor, Tampa Bay FL area dentist office I place both “regular” dental implants and mini dental implants. I have been placing and restoring dental implants in the Tampa Bay area since 1989.
Preparation of Recipient Site:
This picture clearly shows how the recipient site is prepared for a tissue graft. It also is evident why the tissue graft is being done.
Although we do have quite a few senior citizens in Tampa Florida, we treat people of all ages in my Palm Harbor dentist office.
In this picture we are approaching the final stage of this tissue graft. I am using 4-0 chromic gut sutures secure the tissue graft. This whole procedure, including suturing, is delicate work. This young lady was sedated and tolerated the procedure very well. She was released without complication to her husband.
All dentistry was done in my Palm Harbor, Tampa FL area dentist office.
I received this picture in an email from a friend. I have no idea who, what or when, but I do understand why. This shows both the circle of life and, in my opinion, the true meaning of life!
What does this have to do with Dentistry in Tampa Florida? Nothing – directly, indirectly – everything. Yesterday celebrated the 24th year anniversary of my Palm Harbor Dentist office and the anniversary of my wife, Valerie’s birth, in Odessa Ukraine. Life, love, work. family and happiness. This picture shows life, love, family and happiness. Work is not directly shown, except that work has definitely been done on the house in the background.
My work is being a dentist in Palm Harbor, Florida. I love all aspects of my life, I truly love being a dentist in Palm Harbor. I live in Oldsmar with my soul mate, wife, Valerie. My children attend Berkeley Preparatory School in Tampa. My brother, Richard lives in Tarpon Springs, two of my three sisters live in Jacksonville and my third sister still lives in New York and hopefully will relocate to St Pete with her husband upon retirement.
Practicing dentistry in Palm Harbor, FL since April 23, 1988 has and continues to be a big part of my life. My education in Dental Implants was guided by the world renowned Oral Implantologist, O Hilt Tatum Jr. He took me under his wing from 1989 untill 1995.
